Building Great Teams – Leadership Development

At Birchwood, we believe strong leadership starts with understanding—of ourselves, of one another, and of how we work best together. Recently, our leadership team participated in a DiSC training session as part of our ongoing commitment to building a positive, supportive workplace culture. The training session was led by facilitators Katie and Shannon from The Conversations that Matter, a consultant group that specializes in leadership development, coaching and DiSC.

DiSC is a framework that helps individuals understand different behavioral and communication styles. It teaches how people tend to approach work, make decisions, respond to challenges, and interact with others.

Through DiSC, leaders learn to recognize their own strengths and tendencies, better appreciate differences in others, and adapt their communication to build stronger, more effective relationships.

During the session, Birchwood leaders explored how these insights can improve teamwork, reduce misunderstandings, and create a more respectful and collaborative work environment. By understanding what motivates people and how they prefer to communicate, leaders are better equipped to support their teams and lead with empathy and clarity.
