Our Heroes: Birchwood Cottage Staff
Birchwood Cottage strives to provide exceptional service to our residents, their families, and our staff. Our residents require extraordinary attention; their needs are primarily custodial. Resident families depend on our staff for continuous communication, education, support and encouragement through a difficult journey. Each location has a management team comprised of a full time Cottage Director, RN/Case Manager and support positions that may include an Assistant Director, LPN, Living Engagement Coordinator, Dining Coordinator, and Lead Caregiving Staff.
All heroes /staff members receive the training necessary to be successful at Birchwood Cottages. This training includes specialized courses in the fundamentals of memory loss, its related physical and behavioral challenges, and the residents changing needs. The staff is also trained in the Cottage philosophy of resident care and commitment to customer service.
The Engagement Caregiver is responsible for providing leadership and support for resident participation in Engagement and Enrichment moments designed to meet and honor the spiritual, psychological, social, sensory, and physical needs of residents based on their individual interests and needs.
Birchwood Cottages employs a combination of full and part-time Caregivers to meet the needs of the residents. Caregivers work directly with the residents assisting them with their daily needs and wants. Caregivers assist the residents with; personal cares, grooming, meals, housekeeping and laundry. In addition the Caregivers enhance the residents’ lives through leisure, life-enriching social- recreational and productive activities.
This full-time position is responsible for the daily operations of the residence, including general administration, resident admission and discharge decisions, hiring, training and scheduling the staff, budget management, implementing social and recreational programs, providing family support services and complying with regulatory requirements.
Registered Nurse/Case Manager
This position manages resident medications and the related administrative functions, provides training, and assists the Director in evaluating residents regarding admission and discharge decisions. This person also acts as the liaison between the residents, their families, and their physicians.
Licensed Practical Nurse
This position works closely with the Registered Nurse/Case Manager whose primary purpose is to assist in coordinating the health services of Birchwood Cottages.
